Many healthcare network evaluations focus on provider counts, geographic coverage, and contractual arrangements. While these metrics matter, they do not necessarily indicate whether employees can obtain care when they actually need it.

From the perspective of employee experience, accessibility often matters more than availability. A pediatric provider may be located nearby, but if obtaining an appointment requires significant waiting periods, the practical value of that provider is diminished.

HR leaders increasingly influence healthcare strategy through vendor selection, benefits design, and employee advocacy initiatives. Evaluating healthcare access through the lens of usability can help organizations identify gaps that traditional network metrics may overlook. In today's healthcare environment, what matters most is whether employees can obtain the right care at the right time.
